Plaster Mould

For my summer project I had to collect a range of objects that were the same colour. I choose the colour red so I collected objects such as red scissors, thread, beads, broken jewellery, books and many more objects.

To create the plaster mould,I first decided what objects I wanted to use in my mould. I then rolled out red clay, ensuring there was enough clay left around the edges to create walls to hold the plaster.
I collected my chosen objects, oiled them so that they would not stick to the clay whilst I was pressing them to get the mould of the object. After I completed embedding all of my objects into the clay, I made up some plaster and poured it into the mould and left it to set. When the plaster was dry, I removed it from the clay mould. I trimmed the edges, ensuring they were straight using the bandsaw.

Ceramic sgraffito bowl

I created this ceramic bowl using the technique sgraffito.
Sgraffito is the technique used either for wall decor, produced by applying layers of slip tinted in contrasting colours to a surface, or in ceramics by applying to an unfired ceramic body with a layer of contrasting slip, and then in either case scratching to produce an outline drawing. The design for my bowl was inspired by my coloured object's collection that I collected over the summer.

This is a drawing I have done while looking
at how clothing hangs and looks on the figure.
